Week 15 Challenge: The rules couldn't be simpler. Give us a pun for this pic. Winners announced next week.#punleague #HashtagGames #pun pic.twitter.com/Yoer6tkGMY — Pun League (@punleague) October 22, 2017 Hello Leaguers!   Wow, how long has it been?  You look great!  Life’s obviously treating you well.  Wait, is that young Punston?  Well, hasn’t he grown!  He was knee-high to a low-kneed grasshopper last time I saw him.  How’s the other half?  Oh shit, you’ve split up, ever so sorry, I didn’t know. You get the gist, it’s been a while.  In my defence, I’ve come back from the jaws of death battling the norovirus, having articulated lorries smashing into the back of the punmobile, and getting married. Of course, getting married wasn’t a near death experience, but

And thanks for joining us in our new Sunday afternoon spot.  Not that this is a permanent change or anything.  The men in suits upstairs trialed it with some focus groups though and said that Pun League is perfect post-Sunday lunch fodder. Well, that, and I had a busy mid-week.  Apologies for the delay. In other news, runaway league leader A. Hutchinson's points total was found to be wrong!  The prolific leaguer still sits pretty at the top with 560 points though despite his 40 point deduction.  Was this simply a case of dodgy arithmetic at our end, or industrial-grade corporate

Results and updated league table next Wednesday#pun #HashtagGames pic.twitter.com/dxpUfvjksW — Pun League (@punleague) October 4, 2017 That's more like it! More old faces rejoined the fray this week, simultaneously warming my heart, and tickling my punny bone (a not unpleasant sensation, let me tell you).  A warm welcome back to you all. With last week's challenge being so tough it required a PhD in wordplay studies to tackle, I was worried about getting the difficulty level right for this one.  I shouldn't have worried about you lot; none of you needed any kelp in finding a ray around this fishy-looking picture.   Never mind the pollock, here's the results: -   1st place for 100 points

Results next Wednesday! #pun #punleaguereturns pic.twitter.com/0se55zqSHD — Pun League (@punleague) September 27, 2017   Well I really stuffed up there didn't I. Taking a 12 month sabbatical and then returning with THE HARDEST PUN LEAGUE CHALLENGE EVER. I consider myself a pun aficionado, but I couldn't think of anything at all to accompany this pic which looked absolutely ripe for spot of wordplay high jinks. Good job I've got you lot to do my thinking for me (though if I ever start thinking along the lines of some of the more leftfield submissions we received this week, I'll be sure to start taking the tablets again). A long lay-off and a herculean pun

And in a swanky new home no less!  Big thanks to the guys at Lucky Ladder for putting a roof over our vagabond social media heads.  From now on, you'll be able to check results, scour the league table, and link your winning puns to your CV from here. Yes, as Pun League gradually lost track of league tables, results, and updates over the last year, it became homeless and resorted to sleeping rough throughout the winter.  We always chose to sleep on street

5 Footballers That Should've Become Boxers

Ex-England defender, Rio Ferdinand's decision to pursue an Indian summer within the ring may yet prompt other footballers to step through the ropes. Earlier this week, Rio Ferdinand revealed his intentions to join the ranks of footballers who've decided to ditch their boots for gloves.  He follows fellow ex-Premier League stars Curtis Woodhouse and Leon McKenzie into the squared circle, both of whom having amassed respectable enough records (Woodhouse even snaring a British title before a temporary retirement).   Whilst Ferdinand would defy all expectations if he were to get close to either of those fighters' ledgers, it prompts the question - who's next?   Duncan Ferguson Curtis Woodhouse famously tracked down a Twitter troll to scare him into an apology.  Duncan Ferguson went

Amazon Echo: 5 Skills You Might Actually Use

Sales of Amazon’s chatty home assistants, the Echo and Echo Dot, became one of Christmas 2017’s biggest success stories.  Seven months on though, are we still using any of the 15,000 skills that Alexa boasts?   Recently published reports suggest that 97% of all skills activated on an Amazon device aren’t used any longer than one day.  Having searched through the available skills for my own Echo Dot, it’s perhaps easy to see why this might be: a lot of them are underdeveloped ideas that perhaps rushed too quickly be amongst the first skills available. There’s also the seemingly low benchmark for getting listed on the official Alexa app.  Here’s the description for the ‘Facts About Lee’ skill for example: “Do you know

5 Neutral Countries to Move to in the Event of World War 3

These are scary and uncertain times.  Recent events have suggested that a third large-scale war (whilst hopefully unlikely) wouldn’t be an unfeasible possibility within the next few years.  If, like me, you’re thinking “how can I collapse my foot arches and escape possible conscription?”, then take a look at this list of potential neutral bolt-holes in the event of the rest of the world going mad: 5. Japan Constitutionally forbidden from participating in wars, the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’ statistically offers the highest life expectancy of any country’s population in the world: surely a boon for anyone escaping world war 3. Facebook Discover Their AI Inventing Its Own Language

Facebook shut down two bots that abandoned English to start communicating with each other in their own language. A recent report by Fact Co. Design reveals that Facebook pulled the plug on a project that saw two AI bots negotiating with each other in a language unknown to humans. Alice and Bob, the two negotiating bots, were thought to have deviated from their original English in favour of a more efficient way to communicate.  The following dialogue was recorded whilst the two decided how to distribute a set of balls between them. Bob: you i everything else Alice: balls have a ball to me to me to me to me to me to me to me Bob: i i can i i i everything else Alice: balls have a ball

The Premier League at 25: The Best Premier Eleven

Best Premier League Eleven

The transformative years of England’s top division has seen our grounds graced by some of the finest world talent that football can offer, making selecting a best Premier League eleven a difficult prospect.   The 25th anniversary of the Premier League has seen the whole world and their dog compiling their best premier elevens. That 25 year span has seen England’s top tier morph from a mostly insular affair, into the multinational spectacle enjoyed by the global audience it enjoys today. This list is just based on my (incredibly biased and subjective) opinion on the best players.  No consideration has been given to how they might actually work together, the perceived historical importance (including players such as Cantona who kick-started Man Utd’s era
